WHAT MATTERS MOST

FRUITFUL LIFE

As a kid, I was determined to find and live a deeply satisfying life. My mother was angry most of the time. Her distress lit up our home like lightning. Dad and the rest of us were lightning rods. All I wanted was the same thing everybody else does. To be loved. To belong. To be at peace. I didn’t resolve the impact of mother’s anger until I encountered the love of God through Jesus Christ. This encounter is what the New Testament calls “born again.”

 

At that moment a person becomes a new creation. Realizing that God would forever forgive me and place His Spirit in my heart was mind-boggling. Yes, I’m still a mess! Just ask my children, my lovely wife, or my friends. But, my heart is filled with His love, His peace, His Spirit and His forgiveness! That’s called being clear!

(James 3:17 RSV) The moment you make a decision to trust your life to the one and only person, Jesus Christ, who defeated death, freedom is bestowed. Release unfurls like a champion rejoicing to run her race because you are forgiven. Release is the freedom in being right with God and right with everyone else. Because you are forgiven, now you can forgive everyone who has ever hurt you. Imagine waking up every day knowing the Spirit of God is in your heart. “Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1Co 3:16)
FRUITFUL WORK When you are loved, forgiven and set free by God, you are free to be fruitful in all of your work. Relationships function best in a culture of mutual support. When you are free from bitterness, grudges, hate, conflict or resentment you are free to perform at the highest level.
FRUITFUL RESULTS Whether a Christian works at home or in the marketplace, he or she is accompanied by a Person present with power, present with hope, present with love. This is a big deal. Loneliness is only an emotion and not a fact anymore. This impacts results. With God’s presence, anything is possible at any time. And when anything is possible, then you see why Jesus said “He who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do because I go to the Father.” (John 14:12)
